HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder. It can convert videos of nearly any format, including most common multimedia files that libavformat and libavcodec support.
Possible output formats include:

  • File format: MP4, M4V, MKV
  • Video: H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, or Theora
  • Audio: AAC, CoreAudio AAC/HE-AAC (OS X Only), MP3, Flac, AC3, or Vorbis. AC-3, DTS, DTS-HD, AAC, MP3 pass-thru

MuseScore is a music scorewriter for Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac. MuseScore is a WYSIWYG editor, complete with support for score playback and import/export of MusicXML and standard MIDI files. Percussion notation is supported, as is direct printing from the program. The program has a clean user interface, with fast note editing input similar to the step-time note entry found in the popular commercial Scorewriting software packages, Finale and Sibelius.
