The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) finds regions of local similarity between sequences. The program compares nucleotide or protein sequences to sequence databases and calculates the statistical significance of matches. BLAST can be used to infer functional and evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify members of gene families.
For additional information, please refer to: Blast: LSU Overview.
BlueGriffon is a new WYSIWYG content editor for the World Wide Web. Powered by Gecko, the rendering engine of Firefox, it's a modern and robust solution to edit Web pages in conformance to the latest Web Standards. It provides Web authors (beginners or more advanced) with a simple User Interface allowing to create attractive Web sites without requiring extensive technical knowledge about Web Standards.

Clustal is a general purpose multiple sequence alignment program for DNA or proteins. It produces biologically meaningful multiple sequence alignments of divergent sequences. It calculates the best match for the selected sequences, and lines them up so that the identities, similarities and differences can be seen. Evolutionary relationships can be seen via viewing Cladograms or Phylograms.
Clustal W/Clustal X ("Classic Clustal") is no longer supported, but is still available for download at the Clustal website.
The CmapTools program empowers users to construct, navigate, share and criticize knowledge models represented as concept maps. It allows users to, among many other features, construct their Cmaps in their personal computer, share them on servers (CmapServers) anywhere on the Internet, link their Cmaps to other Cmaps on servers, automatically create web pages of their concept maps on servers, edit their maps synchronously (at the same time) with other users on the Internet, and search the web for information relevant to a concept map.
For further information regarding this software, see this GROK article: CmapTools: LSU Overview.
To download CmapTools please go to the Cmap Products Page.
CrystalMaker 9 is an advanced chemical & materials modelling program, featuring energy minimization, crystal-engineering - combined with full crystallographic model building and visualization.
CrystalMaker provides a streamlined workflow that majors on productivity: just drag-and-drop your data files into the program for instant display in spectacular photo-realistic color. Manipulate structures in real time, with the mouse. Multiple View "bookmarks" and undo levels encourage exploration and discovery - ideal for teaching and research.
CrystalDiffract 6 is an all-new, stand-alone program, designed to make the world of X-ray and neutron powder diffraction intuitive, interactive - and fun!
CrystalDiffract 6 reads from crystal files - including CIF files - to simulate X-ray or neutron powder diffraction patterns. Real-time parameter controls let you experiment with diffraction and sample settings, with instant feedback. Combine these with instant mixture creation - and the ability to load observed data in the same window - and you have a powerful workbench application for researchers, teachers and students.
SingleCrystal is an elegant program designed to make the world of diffraction, reciprocal lattices and stereographic projections intuitive, interactive and fun!
SingleCrystal can simulate X-ray, neutron and electron diffraction patterns from single crystals, as well as being able to display reciprocal lattice sections and stereographic projections.
