For Staff, Grad Students, TSPs

ArcGIS is a system that lets you easily author data, maps, globes, and models on the desktop and serve them out for use on a desktop, in a browser, or in the field via mobile devices, depending on the needs of your organization. Server GIS gives you the ability to create, manage, and distribute GIS services over the Web to support desktop, mobile and Web mapping applications.

Please make sure you are using 10.9.1 when possible due to new vulnerabilities in older versions.

LSU Faculty, Staff, and Students may download and install ESRI products on institutional or personal machines. Students may also use ArcGIS Desktop in the public access labs and through VLAB. Use of ArcGIS products is allowed for Academic and Administrative purposes, but not for Commercial or Sponsored (third-party consulting & delivery) research use.

Detailed information about the license for ArcGIS can be found at the following link: Esri ArcGIS: LSU Overview

If you are looking for ArcGIS Pro, please see the following link to sign in via myLSU and download Pro apps: Esri ArcGIS: Access and Install ArcGIS Pro

If you are a faculty member and would like more information about whether your use of ArcGIS for research is allowed, please contact servicedesk@lsu.edu.
